Replacing an out-dated extension and conservatory to create a new open-plan living space leading onto the garden. Integrating the new extension into the renovation of the existing home.
Design Approach.
After visiting the site, carrying out a survey and meeting with the Client we came up with a design which re-cycled under used rooms and re-planned circulation to make the most of the setting and the existing building. We developed a sketch scheme at our initial visit with the Client, to create a contemporary space within the traditional structure.
The external appearance was refined by using hidden gutters, external lighting and large roof lanterns. Internally a lightweight curtain provides privacy to the long bi-folding doors.
Services Provided.
We provided a measured survey and architectural design services RIBA Stage 0-4. This included drawing up the existing building, preparing concept designs, preparing a planning application and submitting the design to Building Control.
‘Andy provided a very innovative and pragmatic solution to the brief…we are very pleased with how the house functions and provides everything we asked for… the remodelled house provides a contemporary home with the clever adaptation of the existing rooms.!’
